Opioid GSLs
48 states in the U.S. have some form of opioid Good Samaritan Laws (GSLs). These are state-level policies that provide protection for lay responders who care for someone after they have overdosed. Policy details vary from state to state. This project examines the equity of GSLs in light of anti-Black racism. We lean on a corpus of 50 one-on-one semi-structured interviews with Black residents of Indianapolis, Indiana. Interviews were collected between Spring 2023 and 2024 through the MACRO-B project and in collaboration with Overdose Lifeline.
